The Archdiocese of Detroit will have a new archbishop. On January 28th, "Mount Clemens" native Bishop Allen Vigneron will replace Archbishop Adam Maida. For the last six years, Vigneron has served as a Bishop in Oakland California. Today Vigneron says he's exicted to be back home.

"I found out a few days before Christmas. I was absolutely flaborgastic. As Ned pointed out, never has it happen before, in all the ten Bishops beofre...nine I guess before me, has it ever been a Detroiter to be the Archishop of Detroit."

Vigneron was chosen after Archbishop Adam Maida submitted a resignation. The Vatican said Maida had resigned after reaching the 75-year-old age limit dictated by canon law.
