January 20, 2011 My TV20 wants you to be able to celebrate Martin Luther King Day Detroit style! Below are a list of events all over the greater metro detroit area that you can attend.

Friday, January 16th

East Lansing @ Michigan State University
-meet and greet with Bobby Seale
    -he helped found the Black Panthers
-5pm @ the Kellogg Conference Center Auditorium

Detroit @ Wayne State University
-tribute luncheon
-keynote speaker: Susan Taylor (Essence Magazine)
-11am in the Orchestra Hall
- $10 for program; $65 for program and luncheon

Royal Oak @ Royal Oak Campus
-Sonia Sanchez to speak
    -writer, teacher, and Philadelphia activist
-OCC's annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. convocation
-begins at 1pm @ the Lila Jones Johnson Theater

Sunday, January 18th

Waterford @ Waterford Kettering High School
-Josh White Jr. is the featured performer
    -nationally known singer, songwriter, actor and educator
-6pm-7pm @ the Performing Arts Center

West Bloomfield @ West Bloomfield High School
-United We Walk
    -1.5 mile walk, music by elementary and high school choirs, keynote
    speeches from Tuskegee Airmen, discussion and candlelight vigil

Harrison Township @ Mac and Ray's Banquet and Event Center
-keynote speaker: Congresswoman Candice Miller
-4th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Fellowship Breakfast
-9am until noon
-tickets: $20 for adults; $10 for children 17 and under

-22nd annual Martin Luther King Jr Holida Celebration of Macomb County dinner
-hosted by the Interfaith Center for Racial Justice
-featured speakers: Jim Jacobs (Macomb Community College President) and Jay Noren (Wayne State University President)
-doors at 5:30pm with dinner from 6:30-8:30pm
-tickets: $35 per person or $250 per table (seats 10)

Bloomfield Township @ St. George Cultural Center
-MLK luncheon hosted by the Greater Pontiac Community Coalition
-keynote speaker: George Hamilton (president of Dow Coating Solutions in Auburn Hills)
