Teen Drinking

January 20, 2011

Authorities are hoping a little "courage" is all it will take to help reduce underage drinking. This is last year's winning entry in the "Courageous Persuaders Program." High school students across the state create a 30-second commerical showing the dangers of underage drinking. Organizers believe the program works because of who creates the spots.

TERRI LYNN LAND (R)-MI SECRETARY OF STATE
"We talk about the issues all the time, we know kids listen to kids, if they hear it from friends and peers, they're definitely going to take it to heart."

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land announced by various sheriff's this afternoon at the North American International Auto Show. The Sheriff's Association is the new partner for the program created by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association. Entries will be accepted until February 11th. The winner will be announced May 14th at the Troy Marriott.
