WSU Sets New Records9/21/2009
The Wayne State Warriors are in a six-way tie tonight for second place in the GLIAC. Two players are being recognized for their efforts in last Saturday's win against Findlay. Kenny Loney gets two picks in the victory over the Oilers. He also recovered a fumble to help earn the Novi Native Conference Defensive Player of the Week Honors. Meanwhile, a familiar face earns his sixth Offensive Player of the Week. Dave Leval recaps a record-setting performance. Joique Bell rushes for 11 yards against Findlay, and another record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. "Joique Bell becomes the GLIAC's all-time leading rusher." Bell shatters the mark set by Michigan Tech's Lee Marana. That's not all. Bell races 26 yards in the second quarter, and gets into the endzone. Bell becomes just the 19th person in NCAA Division II history with at Joique Bell/RB, Wayne State Paul Winters/Head Coach, WSU Bell finishes the game with 284 yards rushing as he now sits in 19th place in Division 2 history. He adds two more touchdowns that puts him in a tie for 14th place in the Division. But Bell will tell you more importantly, he helped his team win their game.
