House Approves Benefits Extension

WASHINGTON (MyTV20 Detroit) - The U.S. House has voted to provide another 13 weeks of unemployment benefits to workers in states hardest hit by the prolonged economic downturn.
Michigan is among them.
The bill, which has not yet been approved in the Senate, extends benefits in the 27 states where the unemployment rate is 8.5% or higher.
Michigan's rate in August 15.2%.
The length of unemployment benefits is already at a record level, reaching up to 79 weeks.
