There's one less university tonight that does not have an indoor practice
facility. MAC Commissioner John Steinbrecher joined other guests for today's groundbreaking ceremony at Eastern Michigan University. Work is about to begin on a new indoor ptractice facility to be used by six teams, including soccer and football. It's something coaches tell us is badly needed.

Ron English
Head Coach of EMU Football
"Just to get our kids out of the weather in the winter months so they can have a dry place to throw the ball, catch the ball."

Scott Hall
Head Coach of EMU Soccer
"Every home game we had over the last five weeks has been in the rain. Again, our field takes a beating, have to play outside, but, we can get inside for some training, and rest the field a little bit."

The public will also have access to the training facility when it's not being used by the teams. It will cost nearly $4 million to build, and construction should be finished in February.
