The Detroit Pistons have made a lot of new fans tonight. Rip Hamilton helped needy kids around the area get a free pair of sneakers. He was joined by teammates earlier tonight at Detroit's Boll Family YMCA. The Pistons teamed-up with Samaritan’s Feet as they donated 1,000 pairs
of sneakers and socks to the kids.

"This is such a blessing considering the economy and everything right now. This really helps out because everyone is in a crunch, it's tough, and I'm really blessed because I was able to bring down six kids, and they all got shoes. That's really great."

This event is part of the NBA Cares “Week of Service.” Every NBA team gives a day of service to its community. "Samaritan’s Feet" is a humanitarian relief organization that puts shoes on the feet of children all around the world. The goal of members is to provide 10 million pairs of shoes to 10 million impoverished people in 10 years.
