DETROIT (MyTV 20) - As a result of Tuesday's general election, big changes are on the way for Detroit City Council. Among them, a new council president.
Former News Anchorman Charles Pugh will take charge of the Detroit City Council on January First of 2010. The council president elect already has an agenda.
Pugh says, "We want to start with some clear agenda items. How are we going to deal with the budget, what are we going to do to fight crime, what are we going to do about residency, what are we going to do about blight and how we spend our demolition dollars?"
Detroit's current city council has a bad reputation of not getting along, Pugh says he and the other four newly elected members will change the mood at the table. Pugh also wants to have better communication with Detroiters than previous council presidents have had in the past, and he wants to improve the city's relationships with the suburbs.
