DETROIT (MyTV 20) - A Shelby Township man turns 27 Friday. But, he will not celebrate with family and friends. He's in jail, accused of leading Macomb County officers on a high-speed chase.
The chase started in Shelby Township. Deputies claim the driver stole liquor from the Meijer Store. The driver is said to be Jessie Eden of Shelby Township. Speeds reached more than 90 mph as the chase made its way through Macomb county on Van Dyke, into Sterling Heights. And there's a twist: police say the driver called 911 to make a false police report, to try to through the officers off his trail.
The chase ends 25 minutes after it started, as the stolen truck crashes at the intersection of Livernois and Hamlin Roads in Rochester Hills. Eden was not seriously hurt, and remains in the Macomb County Jail. He could spend at least five years in prison if he's convicted.
