Telsa Motors is banking on its 89-MPG S-class model to boost the company's fortune.

DETROIT, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Tesla Motors is delivering its first 89-miles-per-gallon car to dealers today in what auto anaylists will be the make or break for the electric car maker.

Twenty thousand of the cars are being made. The new car being pitched to average consumers is their five-seater S-Model, which will cost about $50,000. But the car also will have a 300-mile range.

Tesla Motors is the baby of PayPal billionaire and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
