PONTIAC, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Pontiac will have a new fire department tonight, almost with the flip of a switch.

Firefighters gathered for a final picture this afternoon at the Pike Street Station. This is the final day for the department. They become a part of the Waterford Fire Department at midnight.

That will end Pontiac's 183 year history of having its own fire department.

Pontiac's Emergency Manager approved the takeover earlier this month due to the city's massive budget problems. Most of Pontiac's firefighters are now employed by Waterford.

Pontiac got its first fire department in April 1833.
