DETROIT, Mich. (My TV20 News at 10) – School children from the Detroit Merit Academy celebrated the Conner Creek Greenway two mile extension with a tree planting and parade.
The Conner Creek Greenway is part of a 23 mile long GreenWays initiative that connects paths in Detroit neighborhoods. The paths allow the neighborhoods and communities to walk or bike along the Detroit River.
“The Detroit Recreation Department is excited about the increased recreation opportunities the Conner Creek Greenway will provide. It connects recreation locations to the riverfront through Maheras Park. Additionally it creates a shared use path for residents to enjoy biking, walking or in line skating,” said Alicia C. Minter, Detroit Recreation Department Director.
The Greenway is designed with the goal of connecting neighborhoods and for communities to enjoy the Greenway year-round.
