DETROIT, Mi. (MY TV20 News at Ten) --- The union is claiming victory after approving a new contract with the city for its fired sewer and water workers.
The city of Detroit fired members of AFSCME Local 207 when they went on strike, mainly over wages.
Now, all 36 workers who walked off their jobs have been reinstated as part of the deal.
The union is also appealing a judge's ruling last November over bargaining rights - an appeal that's now in the hands of the Sixth District Court of Appeals in Cincinnati which will hear the case next Tuesday.
AFSCME 207 Local president John Diehl says the union will win -- if "we unite and militantly fight together."
