WASHINGTON, D.C. (My TV20 News a 10) --- Michigan is one of ten states where gun deaths outpace the number of traffic deaths.
A report from The Violence Policy Center in Washington, D.C. lists Michigan, Indiana. Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Virginia and Washington as states where death by gun is more prevalent than death by vehicle.
The Violence Policy Center is an advocacy educational organization that says firearms are the only consumer product not regulated by the federal government for health and safety.
Nationally, there were 31,236 firearm deaths in 2009 and 36,361 motor vehicle deaths according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.
