LIVONIA, MI (My TV20 News at 10)--- Livonia is moving ahead with plans to honor first responders who gave their lives while on duty.
The Livonia Fallen Heroes Monument will be built at Larry Nehasil Park.
He's the Livonia police officer killed in a 2011 shootout in Walled Lake.
Nehasil is among the four police officers, and one firefighter who will be honored on the monument, just west of City Hall.
Organizers are relying on private donations to pay for the $550,000 project.
They are hoping to have the first phase completed this year.
