LANSING, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- Ihab Masalmani is already serving a life sentence without parole for the 2009 murder of an Eastpointe man.
He's learned tonight he will be resentenced.
Masalmani received the life sentence three years ago.
He and another man kidnapped Matt Landry from the Eastpointe Quiznos, and killed him.
The Michigan appeals court ruled Masalmani is entitled to a new hearing because the U.S. Supreme Court struck down mandatory no-parole sentences for murder committed by teenagers.
Masalmani was 17 at the time.
Co-defendant Robert “Fat Daddy” Taylor is also expected to get a new sentencing hearing.
He was only 16 at the time of the murder.
