DETROIT HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO OPEN H1N1 FLU CLINICS OCT. 24
CDC Recommended Target Groups Should Receive Vaccine First

The Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (DHWP) will
begin H1N1 flu immunizations on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m.to 3
p.m.at its Pathways Center located in the Herman Kiefer Health Complex
at 1151 Taylor Street.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that
vaccine supply is extremely limited and recommends that the following
groups receive vaccine first:
· Pregnant Women
· Children six months to five years old
· Caregivers, Parents, Siblings in the home of the child younger than
six months old
· Five-year to 18-year olds with underlying illnesses
· Healthcare workers and emergency personnel that have direct patient
contact

The health department clinics will run a regular weekly schedule
starting Monday, Oct. 26 at DHWP clinics. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. - 4
p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. - 6
p.m. on Wednesday. The clinics include:

· Grace Ross, 14585 Greenfield Road
· Northeast, 5400 E. Seven Mile
· Herman Kiefer, Pathways Center, 1151 Taylor Street
(Initial Saturday hours will continue at Herman Kiefer, Pathways
Center)

DHWP will also provide vaccines in the community starting Monday, Nov. 2 at the following locations:

· Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers
Mondays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

· Butzel Family Center, 7737 Kercheval
Tuesdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

· Coleman Young Center, 2751 Robert Bradby Drive
Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

· Heilmann Recreation Center, 19601 Crusade
Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

· Patton Community Center, 2301 Woodmere
Thursdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

· LaSED Community Center, 7150 W. Vernor Highway
Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
