The Wayne State University football team fell just one game short last season of its first ever playoff game. The Warriors are hoping for better things this year.

Senior running back Joiqui Bell is one of nine starters returning on offense. Defensively, only three starters are coming back from last year's 8-3 team. But, the Warriors head coach is not too worried heading into this season.

PAUL WINTERS/HEAD COACH, WSU FOOTBALL
"I'm really happy with the defense. I'm excited about the speed, evem though we're young, had eight seniors last year, we really, really have good team speed."

The warriors host Mercyhurst in the season opener August 29th.
