New Stadium

January 20, 2011

Invited guests dig in as they begin work not a diamond in the rough, but a diamond at the summit. That's the name of the new stadium the Oakland County Cruisers will call home in Waterford Township. The ball park will sit behind Summit Place Mall.

Janet MacCormack
Season Ticket Holder
"I am thrilled, can't wait! I've already picked out my seat ready to go! That's me right there, my seat right there!"

The Cruisers are part of the 12 team independent Frontier League.

2010 will be the team's third season in Oakland County, but, it will mark the first time the players will take the field in their own hometwon.

The team called Eastern Michigan University home this past season.
It played under the name Midwest Sliders, which is what it was known as before the move to Oakland County from Pennsylvania in 2008. The Sliders played everygame that season on the road. The re-named Cruisers will play nine games in Ypsilanti in 2010, before they move into their new home July 16th. The league can't wait.

Bill Lee
Comm., Frontier League
"This is also the largest market in the country without a minor league baseball team."

Rob Hilliard
Pres., GM, Oakland County Cruisers
"It's very gratifying to see this many people turn out for this event. It just reaffirms our belief this is one of the best baseball markets in the country."

One that will soon have a new home team. In Waterford Township, Dave Leval, My TV 20 News at 10.

Owners tell us the field and seats will be finished in time for the team's
first game. However, players will use temporary locker rooms. A portable concession stand will be set up along with a temporary press
box. Work is scheduled to be finished by the end of next year.
