Michigan Shocks North Dakota, In NCAA Hockey Frozen Four

April 8, 2011

Michigan rode the hot goaltending of Shawn Hunwick to a 2-0 win over North Dakota Thursday night and into the championship game of the Frozen Four.

Hunwick turned back all 40 shots he faced, and Ben Winnett scored in the first period for the only goal the Wolverines would need.

Scooter Vaughn hit an empty net for the final margin.

Michigan will meet Minnesota-Duluth, a 4-3 winner over Notre Dame in the other semifinal, for the championship on Saturday night.
