Verlander Name American League MVP

The Tigers' Justin Verlander has been named the American League Most Valuable Player.

Verlander, also the American League Cy Young Award winner as best pitcher, got 13 of the 28 first place votes from the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Boston outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was second and Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista was third.
