It's official tonight, Detroit is losing one of its professional sports teams. As we told you last night, the Detroit Shock is moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The move was announced earlier this afternoon. My TV 20's Dave Leval has reaction from some of the team's biggest fans.

The University of Detroit-Mercy Women's basketball team continues getting ready for the upcoming season.

One thing missing this year will be some of their biggest idols. The Detroit Shock are moving to Tulsa, and the Lady Spartans are not
happy.

Brigid Mulroy/G, UDM Basketball
"It's sad not to have a professional team to look up to, especially for younger kids, grade school and high school because I know watching people play professionally in the United States was a big deal when I was younger."

The Shock is heading west to new owners because declining support. Detroit averaged 1,500 fewer fans this season compared to a year ago. That continued a trend that led to the team's departure. Still, the Shock will continue, as will the WNBA, which are the most important things to fans.

Carrie Banks/Asst. Coach, UDM Basketball
"To have somebody you can go see in your car, and drive up the road to see their games, or see them on tv, or watch them as they progress from high school, to college to the pro's, it shows women of all ages, you can do it."

The loss of the Shock could be good for Detroit-Mercy. Professional basketball is gone, but, the Lady Titans now offer one of the few female college basketball games in the area. At the University of Detroit-Mercy, Dave Leval, My TV 20 News at 10.

The Shock will play in their new home next season. The team leaves after 12 seasons in the Motor City. Detroit-Mercy will host Saginaw Valley State in an exhibition game November 14th.
