I am 27 years old and have been battling Leukemia for the past three years. In March 2007 I had my second bone marrow transplant. I was in the hospital downtown at Karmanos for months. Pistons games always kept my spirits up during the rough days. Rasheed is my favorite player. Every time he would yell "ball don't lie" I would smile. My recovery has been very difficult and has left me with very little energy. Once my strength started coming back, the first thing I wanted to do was go to a Pistons game. So last month my family surprised me with tickets! I was so excited. I had a sign professionally made and arrived at the Palace three hours early because I was determined to get some autographs - which I did!! Pistons games are just so much fun. I didn't want the game to end.

Great story! Brings us all back to reality about the important things in life. Can't think of a better reason to go to a Piston game. Sometimes you wonder what the big deal is about professional sports. Well, this is a good enough reason!

How encouraging for a young person to take something they find joy in and use it for good! This young lady could sit for months in the hospital being down and depressed but she chooses to find the lighter things of life to lift up those darker times.

When I read this story it made me think how the courage of one young woman can make such a differance in our world. To have faced such adversity and still smile about a simple remark "ball don't lie" should bring unending inspiration to each of us.
