My name is Jennifer Mackinder from Detroit and I have a pretty awesome story of a second chance for a 3 day old kitten found in a salvage yard. He was found by an employee and the closest place she could think of to take him to was our clinic, Jefferson Veterinary Center, where I am employeed as a Veterinary Techinician, she always passed us everyday on her way to work. After sharing the story of how the kitten was found with the staff, one of the Veterinarians, Dr Alice approached the front counter where the salvage yard employee was holding the kitten in a little basket. Dr Alice, picked up the extremely tiny creature, 3 days old at best and said, " We'll take him." I followed her to the treatment area to prepare some kitten milk replacer, as we walked she announced that his name was "Banjo". I was the first to feed him with the bottle and I knew right then that he was gonna come home with me. From that point on he has been part of my family. It was quite a time to raise such a young kitten. At the time I was in school and working full time, having to feed "Banjo" every few hours was a challenge. I took him everywhere I went for the first couple weeks, even to class, good thing I was in Vet Technician school and worked in a Veterinary practice LOL. These pictures were captured when he was just starting to get confident with his surroundings, he was extremely brave very early, he had to be, he shared his home with 2 dogs, 3 other cats, and a guinea pig! I now present, "Banjo", the former salvage yard kitten...his second chance...the beginning.
