This is Pumpkin The Dog, a 3.5lb poodle I adopted from Almost Home Rescue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. He has dozens of toys, but his favorite is a toilet paper roll. Pumpkin is probably four or five years old, and I’ve had the privilege and joy of being his mom for three years now. Pumpkin is the gentlest and friendliest dog you’ll ever meet. Throughout the summer, he is a “regular” at Camp Casey (www.camp-casey.org) a horseback camp for kids conquering cancer. (The families of the kids attend the camps, too.) Pumpkin is one of the “activities” – “Have Your Photo Taken With Pumpkin”. Kids get to take Pumpkin for a walk, and we talk about pet adoption.
