Detroit, MI – July 15, 2009- Calling all Detroit City Council Candidates…The Committee to Elect Tamika Louise Gaines for Detroit City Council is sponsoring the third Neighborhood Cleanup, on Saturday June 25, from 8:00 am- 12 Noon. The boundaries of the project will be a complete square starting at Wyoming to Livernois and ending at Fenkell to Schoolcraft.

As the pioneer in the Detroit cleanup initiative, Gaines is serious about cleaning up Detroit, that’s why she publicly challenged all Detroit City Council candidates to join her in her effort on May 26 at the Detroit Renaissance Club. “Neighborhood cleanliness is a major concern for our community”, stated Gaines. She urges all candidates to, “pull up your sleeves and clean up the city of Detroit”.

“I am hoping that other candidates will participate. This is the third cleanup project that Campaign Gaines for Detroit has spearheaded and requested assistance from other candidates. If you love the City of Detroit, let’s pitch in. Your sweat equity will show Detroit if you love your city”, stated Gaines.

Supporters and volunteers are welcome to join in the clean up initiative. “Come when you can with a broom, rake or shovel in hand”, says Gaines. The central location headquarters of this project will be located at 14873 Ohio Detroit, MI 48238. Food, beverages and activities will be available for participants.

With less than a month before the August 4th, Gaines is focused on her one goal, winning a seat on the Detroit City Council, She plans to continue with her door to door campaigning beginning on the east side and working her way to the west side of Detroit
