This weekend, summer and fall events collide. There are a couple of different festivals and events.
“Our last big hurrah until the winter comes,” said Jennifer Kibby.
She is the Executive Director of Allen Park Downtown Development Authority. The Made in Michigan Festival takes over downtown Allen Park this Friday and Saturday.
It’s a place to bring your wallet to buy things made right here in the Great Lakes state.
“Michigan-shaped Adirondack chairs to toffee and jewelry. We have 12 food trucks serving the best food in Michigan,” Kibby said.
This is the third annual Made in Michigan festival in Allen Park and every year its getting bigger and bigger.
“This year we’ve doubled the size of the site," Kibby said. "We have so many vendors. We’ve gone from 34 vendors to 84 vendors this year.”
Other events happening this weekend:
The 16th annual Scarecrow Festival takes place in Trenton. This Fall celebration will be held Saturday and Sunday.
Comerica Bank hosts the Park Perks season finale at Comerica Park. It’s a day of family fun that supports local youth groups. It’s being held Saturday 11am to 2pm. Tickets are $20 per person and $10 for children 12 and under
Also, support Special Olympic athletes as the State Fall Games are held Friday to Sunday. Nearly 1,600 athletes participating in events that take place in Ann Arbor, Canton, Chelsea and Ypsilanti. Our own Ann Marie LaFlamme is emceeing the Opening ceremony.
But don’t forget Made in Michigan kicks off Friday afternoon.
