WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 22-year-old high school hall monitor has been charged with engaging in sexual acts with students.

It allegedly took place inside Lincoln High School in Warren. The hall monitor, Jaren Johnson, could be facing up to life in prison.

Warren police believe there may be several other victims out there who have yet to come forward, which is why 7 Action News is sharing his mug shot.

“It's unfortunate. We send our kids to school to be safe and protected. We shouldn't have to worry about who’s monitoring our children,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said.

Lucido says Johnson is facing eight charges total and could face up to life in prison. Warren police are concerned there may be several other victims that have yet to come forward.

“I don't know if it goes beyond the school — I hope the heck not," Lucido said. If it does, rest assured we will charge him with any and all crimes affecting our children."

According to Shawn Lowman, Johnson was also a local youth sports coach and coached her then-16-year-old grandson in AAU basketball.

“I'm certain, 100%. They called him coach J,” Lowman said. “All of them that played for him that my grandson is still in touch with. They were all shocked but not surprised if that makes sense... They didn't put anything past him. He was very hot headed and didn’t want to listen.”

Johnson has a $500,000 bond and is to have no contact with anyone under 18 if released. It's horrifying case to parents in the community.

“The fact that he was in a high school and having sex with a baby is just disgusting," Lowman said. "Whatever happens to him happens, you know, because it’s not right.”
