A Plymouth woman is frustrated that her ghoulish Halloween decorations have caused such a stir in the neighborhood.
Last week Lisa Wright put up front lawn decorations at her home on Pacific Street, near Sheldon Road. The display included a graveyard and nearly a dozen hanging dolls with duct tape on their mouths.
Wright said she’s been collecting the creepy dolls at garage sales and has displayed them in her yard in advance of her Halloween party for more than a decade – and she’s never had a complaint – until this year.
“Kids would be scared and say, ‘ Oh, that’s the doll house,’ but we’ve never had, at least to my face, one person say anything about the dolls,” said Wright.
Last week, some residents took to a community message board to complain about the dolls, saying the dolls crossed the line. That's when a family member took them down, while Wright
was on vacation.
Now she’s back, and doesn’t want to be bullied.
“They're going back up -- it's ridiculous,” said Wright.
She says she and her family love Halloween, and is thankful for those who have supported her -- even if they don't love the dolls.
“If someone doesn’t like it, they don't have to go to my house trick or treating,” she added.
Wright has yet to put up the dolls again, and said she may have run out of time for this year, but she’s vowed to decorate with them again next year.
