Daytona Beach airport to resume operations following brief evacuation

The Daytona Beach International Airport in Florida was briefly evacuated Tuesday morning after a suspicious package was found.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office confirmed in a tweet that the airport had been evacuated.

"Daytona Beach International Airport @FlyDAB is being evacuated due to a suspicious package reported around 6:15 a.m. Please check back here for updates - we'll post more info as it becomes available," the sheriff's office posted.

The Daytona Beach International Airport later tweeted that the a bag was marked a suspicious as it was screened at security. The bag has since been cleared. Operations are expected to resume at the airport shortly.

"Attention: due to a suspicious bag that was flagged while going through security, the DAB terminal was evacuated this morning. The bag has since been cleared and normal operations will resume soon," Daytona Beach International Airport's tweet read.
