Several off-duty police officers from Bakersfield, California were attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Several people were shot, including an off-duty BPD officer. He has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Some of the officers also witnessed the gunfire, but say they were not in position to return fire.

Chief Lyle Martin and the entire Bakersfield Police Department have released a statement, saying they "extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims of this brutal act, as well as to the first responders of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, and Las Vegas emergency medical services."
