It happened near a home in the 4100 block of Weddell Street, between Outer Drive and Southfield.

Police tell us the suspect gained access to a home with an AR-15 style weapon. Investigators say the suspect shot his ex-girlfriend and a man she was with.

Chief Ahmed Haidar said, "The male who was shot in the knee was able to escape and run down the street. At that point, he was able to inform to call 911. Both the female. and the male are at Beaumont Hospital and they're in stable condition."

Both victims were taken to the hospital, while the suspect fled the scene in a white pick-up truck. The victims are alive, but their condition was not disclosed by police.

Given the type of weapon allegedly used by the suspect, the chief said, "It could have done a lot damage. We did canvass the next block to make sure that the neighbors were okay. Thank God. Thank God everybody's okay,"

The suspect has since been taken into custody, police say. We'll have more information later this week regarding arraignment and court details.
