Barricaded gunman in custody after standoff in Bloomfield Township

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A suspect who was armed and barricaded inside a home in Bloomfield Township Thursday evening was taken into custody, police say.

Law enforcement responded to the incident and asked people to avoid Quarton Road between Franklin and Inkster roads. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Oakland County SWAT assisted Bloomfield Township police.

South Hills Middle School was used as a staging area for authorities.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police provided an update and said the suspect was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported.

Police say the area has been secured.

It’s unclear at this time what led up to the incident.
