WESTLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two people are dead and one person was injured in a shooting in Westland on Monday night.

Family members say one of the victims who was killed as a 74-year-old woman.

The shooting happened at a home on Deerfield Court near Palmer Road and Wlildwood Ave.

"They need to do a more thorough check of whose getting them. There's over thirty guns in that house. I'm confident of that," Penny Aljabali, the sister and daughter of the victim.

On Monday night, Aljabali said she had a bad feeling in her stomach after seeing a couple of missed phone calls and a text saying there was an emergency.

It's unclear what led to the incident, but Aljabali told us said her mother, 74-year-old Susan Higginson and her brother, William Henry, had been shot by Henry's live-in boyfriend.

Police so far have only said that two people are dead and one is injured, and have not identified the shooter, or confirmed the number of weapons that were found in the home.

She said her mother battled cancer for decades and was one-of-a-kind.

'She was the sweetest, most loving person. She would do anything for anybody," she said.
