Two arrested for opening fire on Detroit police officers

Detroit police say two people have been arrested after shooting at Detroit police officers following a traffic stop on the city's west side on Thursday night.

According to police, the officers pulled over a 2005 Ford Escape around 11:05 p.m. near Evergreen and Belton. That's just north of Tireman.

We're told the front seat passenger, a 17-year-old man, got out of the vehicle and took off on foot. Officers followed him, and that's when the suspect fired two shots at the officers. Neither officer was injured.

Police eventually arrested the suspect two blocks away. They also arrested a second suspect, a 21-year-old man, for driving without a license.

This is the third incident of people firing at Detroit police officers in the last few weeks.

On Sept. 14, officers were ambushed by a gunmen out of nowhere when a car pulled up behind the officers and opened fire.

Just over a week later, a suspect was arrested after a man opened fire on officers after they pulled over a vehicle he was riding in.
