Two people were shot and wounded in a shooting involving Michigan State Police troopers.

Westbound I-96 at Farmington Road in Livonia was closed due to the police investigation.

Police say the initial shooting incident, believed to be domestic, took place at a FedEx facility located at Amrhein Road in Livonia shortly after 3 a.m. Monday. Livonia Police said the male suspect had the female victim in the car.

The woman reportedly had a gunshot wound and the suspect was armed with a shotgun in the vehicle.

Responding Livonia police officers saw a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene and pursued the vehicle. The high-speed chase was going eastbound on I-96, made a U-turn and headed west. The chase ended around 3:40 a.m. in the area of WB I-96 and Levan.

An MSP trooper fired shots at the suspect who was still in the suspect vehicle during the attempt to arrest the suspect.

Both the suspect and the victim are listed in critical condition.

After being closed for hours, WB I-96 is now open at Farmington Road.
