Metro Detroit Weather: Slick road conditions continue Thursday morning

Today will be quite cold with wintry conditions continuing. Morning snow showers and flurries are likely, with temperatures starting off well below freezing. This will make road salt nearly ineffective as crew work hard to clear things up. As the day progresses, the snow should taper off and skies will become mostly cloudy to partly sunny but highs will stay cold in the teens to around the low 20s. Winds out of the northwest will keep it feeling brisk throughout the afternoon, and any lingering flurries should diminish by mid-day. Tonight remains cold with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping back below freezing. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low teens, with the lowest readings around 11° and brisk northwest winds making it feel even colder.

Friday stays cold with a good chance of light snow, especially earlier in the day. The snow chance remains high with additional amounts around an inch or so of accumulation before it tapers off later in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low 30s — chilly but a bit milder than today— with winds shifting out of the south-southwest and adding a bit of breeze to the day. Skies will be mostly cloudy to overcast, and conditions may feel damp and wintry at times with the snow showers.

This weekend stays cold with mostly cloudy skies and chances for light snow again. On Saturday, temperatures will hover around the upper 20s with mostly cloudy skies and occasional snow showers possible, especially during the day, though most accumulations will be light. By Sunday, skies remain mostly cloudy with highs much colder - closer to the low 20s and occasiona light snow showers still possible through the afternoon.

Today: Snow showers continue this morning with some sunshine possible later. Highs will reach the upper teens. Winds: 10-20 mph

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies and cold with lows near 11° Winds: SW 5-10 mph.
